An eagle spends several minutes flying over the same territory in order to identify and intelligently choose its prey. When it flies over, it can be seen relaxed, leaning to one side and the other, letting itself be carried away by the air currents that accompany it. It never precipitates in vain, and this is a teaching that the eagle indirectly leaves to human beings, It does not precipitate in vain.

El águila: estrategia, velocidad y fuerza
En diferentes culturas a través de la historia, el águila ha constituido un verdadero símbolo de poder e inteligencia. Para los aztecas, el guerrero águila era, junto con el guerrero jaguar, el elite de los más poderosos, ágiles y valientes. Estos hombres tenían cualidades extraordinarias, a veces les asignaban el águila desde jóvenes, cuando mostraban aptitudes antes de ir a la guerra. Los guerreros águila eran quienes capturaban a la mayor cantidad de enemigos, por eso se les asignó esta ave, pues se sabe que este animal tiene el porcentaje más bajo de fallas durante la cacería. Pocas veces la presa puede librarse del ataque feroz de un águila.
¿A qué se debe tanta precisión? Sin duda es una combinación de inteligencia, agudeza visual y fuerza.
Las águilas son aves de presa, consideradas depredadores elegantes por su belleza y por la majestuosidad con la que sobrevuelan un territorio.
Puede medir de 70 a 95 centímetros de longitud, con una envergadura que va de los 1.5 a los 2.8 metros de largo.
Las garras son su principal herramienta de caza, son afiladas y curvadas como ganchos, con una fuerza de agarre en las patas hasta 10 veces más fuerte que la mano de una persona adulta.
Gracias a la fuerza de sus garras y al tamaño de sus alas, estos increíbles animales pueden levantar 70 veces su propio peso.
Pero hay algo que caracteriza a estos seres, su más extraordinaria cualidad: el sentido de la vista.
Las águilas pueden ver a gran distancia a una presa pequeña. Tienen la vista mucho más desarrollada que el oído o el olfato, y no dudan en utilizar esta habilidad cuando se disponen a cazar. Después de varios estudios se ha descubierto que las águilas pueden ver entre 4 y 7 veces más lejos que nosotros, los hombres.
Pero más allá de su belleza física y su majestuosa fisionomía, lo que más llama la atención es la técnica infalible de caza. Aquí, el vuelo del águila, tiene mayor relevancia, pues desde el acecho, hasta el ataque, emplea diferentes formas de vuelo.
Un águila pasa varios minutos sobrevolando un mismo territorio con el fin de identificar y elegir inteligentemente a su presa. Cuando sobrevuela, se le puede ver relajada, se inclina hacia uno y otro lado, dejándose llevar por las corrientes de aire que le acompañan. Jamás se precipita en vano, y es ésta una enseñanza que, indirectamente le deja el águila a los seres humanos, No se precipita en vano.
El águila observa por un largo rato y no desperdicia energía en una presa que no va a conseguir, en esto radica gran parte de su éxito.
Una vez que ha elegido la que será su comida, retrae las alas y baja, desde lo alto, en picada, a una velocidad que puede alcanzar los 300 kilómetros por hora.
Ver a un águila en descenso es una muestra de la verdadera determinación. Poner la mira en un objetivo y combinar fuerza, pasión, agilidad y confianza para ir a conseguir lo que se propone sin que nada le detenga.
Una vez que el depredador está sobre la presa, usa sus garras y toda la fuerza de sus patas para atraparla, y en ocasiones, cuando la presa trata de huir o se defiende, el águila pelea cuerpo a cuerpo con su oponente, así sean serpientes, venados, zorros u otro animal.
Por si fuera poco, una vez que consigue tener el control sobre su presa, el águila se eleva varios metros y recorre grandes distancias con la presa en las patas, para alimentarse en un lugar tranquilo o bien, para llevarla hasta el nido.
Más allá de su fuerza y voracidad, la estrategia de caza de las águilas ha sorprendido a los investigadores ya que, además de la fuerza, ha desarrollado estrategias para acechar a sus presas. Por ejemplo, cuando un águila quiere cazar a una cabra que le supera en tamaño y peso, este feroz depredador espera pacientemente a que la cabra se acerque a la orilla de la montaña para precipitarse a ella y empujarla al vacío. Una vez que la cabra cae y muere, el ave baja a devorarla.
Todas estas grandiosas características han de tomarse en cuenta si te sientes identificado con el águila, para poder entender lo que esto significa.
Ver un águila sobrevolando el cielo, soñar con águilas, o tener una fuerte fascinación por ellas, significa mucho.
